“The masters of Art are asking YOU to BE THEM!” This project concerns looking at and making Art through its history and artists. In this project, discussions and observations range from the first recorded art which are the Lascaux Cave Paintings, to the rebirth of Art in the 15th century, and all the way through to the 20th century. This project tests the skills students have and want to learn. "sUBliME" is designed for students to take what they know and what they want to know and applying these skills to make a successful art piece inspired by an artist of their choosing, in which students are responsible for providing their own materials to make this work in Art class. Students may request an additional artist upon approval...

Eva Heinrichs
Persimmon
35 ½” x 29 ½”
Cardboard, Paint
2016
The colors show so much of the personality I tried to portray. Value shows on the girls back with shading, detail, and awareness of the brush strokes. Variety shows with the different shapes and designs that represent the emotion of my piece. This is different than the somber emotion sensed from the original. The symbolism in the art also took an effect on me. It made me feel peaceful. In the process of making and painting, I was able to find passion, joy, and acceptance. I focused on Gustav Klimt. He wasn’t afraid to be himself and express it in a way that not everybody was willing to accept. I am happy to have learned this and this gave me an opportunity to begin working on myself.
